Space Encounters Office for Architecture

Shift is the design for a new sustainable and refined icon for the skyline of Amsterdam and a pleasant small-scale connector to its surroundings. Its integrated green patios contribute to a vibrant green heart to the mono-functional Riekerpolder business park, transforming it into a healthy work environment and connecting to the natural environment of the Nieuwe-Meer. With the possibility for hosting temporary functions in the plinth, Shift is a driver for public activity and a placemaker in the Western-most part of the Zuid-As.

The flexible design of Shift accommodates a variety of programs, such as office and hotel functions. The building is adorned with lush, green outside patios on each floor, resulting in a dynamic green high rise and WELL Standard healthy building. The patios mitigate solar gain, fine dust and traffic noise, while offering green and panoramic views for next generation workspaces.
