Space Encounters Office for Architecture

Hotel A will be part of the Space Encounters’ design for an urban development located in the Buiksloterham area in Amsterdam Noord. Buiksloterham is a former industrial site currently transforming into a mixed-use area. New spaces for housing and nature are added while space for the dynamics of production, logistics and additional facilities are reintroduced. In the design for Hotel A, the robust character of industrial and warehouse architecture is embedded through its curved aluminium facade cladding, metal mesh crown and circulation spaces as separate elements on the outside of the building.

Hotel A will be one of two high-end hotels on the plot, owned and operated by WIN Hotels. Together, they will add 292 new rooms to the Buiksloterham area.
It will feature a luxurious rooftop program with a swimming pool and fitness area, a restaurant with fully-openable sliding doors, and a 360° walk-around with views on the IJ-river and Amsterdams’ city centre.
