OHPL House
Private clientApartment with an harmonious and awkward shaped unit
Situated in an apartment building by Jo Coenen on the banks of the IJ river, the OHPL House for a lawyer is organised around a core which contains cabinets, a kitchen and a bathroom.
To infuse some drama, the unit is conceived like a collection of Imi Knoebel boxes instead of a purely rational form. The shapes meet in unexpected ways, sometimes harmonious, sometimes awkward.
The bends around the corner soften the volume, while the modest mdf balances out the strict natural stone floor and provides a little mystery.
